A BIG DEAL IN MICROELECTRONICS
Everett High School (EHS) science students attended the 57th International Symposium on Microelectronics, where they networked with industry and government professionals and learned about careers, college programs, and internships.
Held on October 2, 2024, at Encore Boston Harbor, the symposium was sponsored and organized by the International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society (iMAPS). The event showcases microelectronics and advanced packaging technical content. EHS students learned about the field of microelectronics, semiconductors, and packaging systems relevant to missile defense systems, autonomous vehicles, and handheld electronics, including phones and video games.
Students networked with leading industry and government professionals from companies such as IBM, Intel, Raytheon, and Invidia. They also explored college programs, internships, and degree programs in the semiconductor and microelectronic fields. EHS was invited to attend the conference in 2026, when it returns to Boston, and the EPS is excited to continue working with the iMAPS.

ENGAGING IN EDUCATION
Lafayette School third-grade teacher Erin Dill recently conducted a Language Arts lesson entitled, “Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Snack Time!” The fun activity effectively concluded Unit 1, “Classic Tales,” which, Ms. Dill reports, was met with enthusiasm and curiosity by her students. “Classic Tales” introduced students to several engaging stories, including “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Wind and the Willows.” These stories are filled with rich language and vocabulary to help build reading comprehension and literacy skills.

Whittier School students and staff recognized the building’s custodians on Friday, October 4, 2024. The students made a large sign for the school’s hard-working custodians, while the leadership team bought them donuts for breakfast and pizza for lunch.

Everett High School senior Tre’von Carrington — the student behind the Crimson Tide mascot — is pictured with Superintendent William Hart on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Keverian School. Tre’von was a model of school spirit and indefatigability on Homecoming Day, as he participated in school-based pep rallies, the parade, and the festivities during the game and halftime ceremony. Great job, Tre’von!
