ACCESS For ELs

Each January, all English Learners in grades K-12 take an English Language proficiency test called ACCESS. The ACCESS test includes reading, writing, speaking and listening prompts.  Everett Public Schools uses these scores to determine English Learners’ levels each year.  We strive for ELs to grow one or more levels per year.  Here is a sample ACCESS score report parents/guardians receive each Spring.  For more information about your child’s ACCESS scores, please contact the EL Coordinator at your student's school.

In order to be exited from English Learner (EL) status, Massachusetts requires that students score a 4.2 overall score AND a 3.9 literacy score on the ACCESS test.
